The homestead borders the infamous Maasai Mara National Reserve and, is also one kilometre from the Tanzania Serengeti game reserve.
The house was designed by Calvin and Louise Cottar and built by hand using indigenous and eco-friendly materials. The house is managed within the same area as Cottar’s 1920s Safari Camp, and guests can enjoy the same levels of service and standard for which the camp is known. For those that want absolute privacy in the Maasai Mara, combined with dedicated and discrete staff, award-winning guides, and an abundance of wildlife, Cottar’s Private Homestead offers the only real private luxury home in the Maasai Mara.
Cottar’s Private House has a breathtaking view onto the savannah plains that carry the great annual wildebeest migration, and is set amidst a backdrop of the Olderikesi Hills. Guests can enjoy privately guided game drives, night game drives, bush walks, swimming and fishing. Cottar’s Private Homestead is rented only on an exclusive basis, and comes with a dedicated staff of 8. The house is over 10,000 square feet in size, and features a large living room, dining room, a magnificent viewing deck, and 5 en-suite bedrooms, all with stunning views. The house has internet access throughout, satellite TV and DVD, and is powered with electric and solar energy. A dedicated game drive vehicle(s) and guide(s) are provided to guests throughout their stay.
For the discerning client, Cottar’s Private Homestead offers complete privacy, with a secure and secluded road leading to the house – perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in nature. A masseuse is available on a daily basis, and private body guards and personal exercise trainers can be made available (at an additional cost), should they be requested.
Guests staying at Cottar’s Private Homestead can, should they wish to do so, make use of the Cottar's 1920s Camp swimming pool, shop and other facilities. A separate swimming pool at the house is planned for before 2103.
Accommodation Rates include full board accommodation staff of 8 (1 waiter, 1 house keeper, a chef and kitchen helper, 2 security guards, a guide and wildlife spotter); all game drives; house wine, beer and soft drinks, one complimentary massage per guest, access to satellite TV, internet, computer, printer, library, kitchen, linens and towels.
